I have found a complete suspension with v front springs and p rear springs, with hangers bump stops etc. from an 2004 f250 fx4 to go on my wifes 2005 EX.
Has any of you changed the springs on the garage floor? How long does it take? I think I will change the front first and see what it looks like.
Does anyone have a written procedure?
thanks
Richard

Does the driveway count?

Depends on how much help you have. I did it with a buddy and it took us around 3 hours or so? It's been a long times since I've done it and I can't remember exactly. Sorry.

I scanned it really quick because I wanted to see if that link instructed to remove the front bumper, to get to the front spring eye bolt, and it doesn't. It instructs you to remove the corner bumper supports instead.
I have no clue how hard that is, but I do know removing the bumper was EXTREMELY EASY. I think it was 4 bolts (maybe 6) and the bumper comes right off, allowing EASY access to the front spring bolt.
I couldn't believe how easy it was to remove the bumper, I'd strongly recommend that procedure over the one listed in the link, simply because I don't see how removing the bumper supports could be easier than removing the bumper, especially when the link say's to use an impact wrench to remove the corner supports.
I did all my stuff with simple hand tools.

PS - If you only have one floor jack, borrow another from a buddy. Having two made things easier for me.

Thanks a bunch! I have a willing buddy to help, sounds like a good weekend project.
thanks again!
Hopefully some of the other guys who have done this mod more recently than I have can chime in with help too.

Took about 8 hrs by myself, with the 10 yr old as a helper.
The rear will be faster, no bumper to take off. Just remember to take the spring with the spring hanger off together and then put the hanger on your new springs loosely before you mount back up. And as above, the ac lines need to be moved over just a tad to get to the bolts on that side.

Working by myself, it took me a good 7 to 8 hours to replace the front and rear springs. This included time to add a leaf in the rear and to cut the straight leaf off as a spacer, changing out the front springhangers, installing a below the bumper front hitch. and putting in some Firestone airbags in the back.
It is a general pain to do it by yourself. Get a friend that knows what a wrench is for, and it will sail right along.
Don't forget to re-torque the bolts after a hundred miles!!
Don't forget that there is two bolts toward the end of the bumper for the side brackets.
Remember?....LOL! Bion 'ole buddy, I have CRS. Can't Remember Stuff. I'd have to remove my front bumper again just to figure out where the bolts are, much less how many there are! LOL

You are the man when it comes to this upgrade. I'm just about to install my new V,B code springs myself. Front bumper is already off to be painted. Was curious about how to pull out the front bolts. As soon as I do my u/g, I'll post comments. Unfortunately, I don't have any buddies to help on this one. Only daughters with a lot of homework.

Wow thanks for all the info. I have a friend willing to help. I have the V code springs I will install those first and see how it looks. If I go ahead and do the rear will I need to lower the driveshaft bearing and can I use the stock rear spring blocks? I plan to do this saturday and will take before and after measurements and pics.
How many of you re use the u bolts? where can I find all the torque values?
I bought all new U-bolts and nuts. Not cheap. Eight (8) total U-bolts at about $20 each. But...all hardware will be new after the install.

Richard - About the U-bolts. A lot of people reuse them and they get by OK, I guess. But I go along with Ford on this one. Ford specs for new bolts and nuts on the axles every time they are changed. They also spec for new spring bolts and nuts.
I also forgot to direct you to the pics fo my v code install.
