But influenza is a virus, right? A vaccine can help to prevent it, but once it hits.....your body either fights it off---or it doesn't.......There's no medication that goes after the viruses, correct? Antibiotics fight bacterial infections?
So......Unless you need supportive care to fight SYMPTOMS like dehydration, or super-high fever.....What's the sense in going to the hospital if you have the flu?
Weren't some doctors giving patients antibiotics to fight the flu? Isn't this part of the reason we have antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections nowadays? Overprescription?
Again, I'm not a doctor or a scientist, but it seems to me that if you get influenza, you should only trot to the hospital (or be carried there) if you have life-threatening symptoms from the illness.....or of course, pneumonia.

piggy flu is real,but not deadly or as bad as they are making it out to be. All 3 of my kids had it,and they survived just fine,only ended up taking one to the hospital for an IV because he wouldn't keep fluids down and was dehydrated bad.

Just getting over the H1N1 virus, although I will admit it floored me and is kinda wicked, but not much different than the seasonal flu.........
I see no need to get any flu shots like the seasonal Rumsfeld cocktail "Tamiflu" or the new improved H5N1 mock virus H1N1 vaccine but that's just me, I'll take my chances with weathering the storm the old way like I always do.
Around here they aren't even testing for H1N1. They say it is too expensive for the test. So, if anyone gets the flu, they are saying it is H1N1, even if it isn't. What's wrong with this picture??

The black helicopters are real, I worked with a pilot who flew them. many stories about one skid landing on a Mc. donnalds roof 3 or 4 seals rappelling down and through the windows grab some un suspecting patron and flying away and than dropping the victim in a safe spot. they had someone on stand by to replace the windows as soon as they left as to not damage the business too much.

Swine Flu (H1N1) is greatly over exaggerated. I think most people diagnosed with it probably just have the simple flu. Lots of the kids at my daughter's middle school have had it. We are not taking the H1N1 or any other flu shot. I took a flu shot once 8 years ago and got the worse sickness I ever had in my life! I was home form work for a week. I remember it so well because I was home sick on 9-11-01. Every TV channel was dedicated to the reports, even MTV.
Honestly all the salmonella and Ecoli food issues scare me more than anything. Seems like once a month there is a new food recall. Now it's ground beef. My local Food Lion, BJ's, and Trader Joe's are all effected.

And then, they "assume" more people have it, and then its "more" dangerous, so now you should be even MORE scared and you NEED the shot!
