Well... the swelling had gone down, but not enough for them to do surgery today, so we have it tentatively set up for this coming Monday. If that won't fly, then we can go to Wednesday of next week without getting into complications, but I'm pretty confident that the swelling will decrease enough by Monday, even if I have to soak it in ice baths every day.

My lower back and my butt are beyond tired of being so limited with how I can sit, especially since I need to keep my "toes above the nose" as much as possible between now and surgery. I'm still very, very fortunate, though, and am equally as grateful.

Pete, I keep running this in my head, thinking of being in that situation. I'm sure there was a point where you said "OH CHIT", and nothing you could do. Gives me a chill to think about it. Good luck Monday and get well fast.

Costa I know that it has been a while but I couldn't imagine loosing my daughter. Thank you for sharing. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Pete Good luck on surgery day. I had a compound fracture of my right Tibia and Fibula, motorcycle accident, I had a nail placed into my leg. After four surgeries and 8 years later it is finally healed. It was a very severe break and would not heal. Yours should not be that bad. Should be a pretty simple surgery. I will keep both of you in my prayers and God Speed.

There is no doubt that there was that brief moment of realization that I was stuck and getting ready to be folded over, but it only took about 5 seconds and then the truck settled to a stop and I pushed myself out from under the truck on the creeper... the truck had actually rolled me over on the creeper as part of the process of folding my leg up and over. I don't even like thinking about it even now because I was also aware that I had absolutely NO control and was at the mercy of gravity and friction.

It could definitely be worse, Pat. I'm actually sending a lot of time compiling competitors product specifications for comparisons with our products. I barely even glanced at FTE yesterday. Trying to make the most of my downtime to learn as much as possible about our product lines and their applicabilities. Occasinoally, I'll watch a video or two, but only after school is out because I'm in the family room right next to where my wife is teaching the children.

In fact, I'm still supposed to drive from B'ham to St. Louis a week from this coming Sat/Sun to participate in a full weeklong training course at our home office (my choice, and the doc says that it shouldn't be a problem as long as i stop every couple fo hours and elevate my leg for about 30 minutes just to get the pressure off of it for a bit. The office has even told me to take two days each way and they would "take care of the extra hotel bills" to do that.

Surgery was completed on Monday afternoon, and everything went very well with no complications. Two screws to re-attach the tip of the fibula over my ankle joint, and a plate with 6 screws straddling the fracture on the fibula.

I had a lot of pain Monday afternoon, some on Tuesday, less each day now. In fact, I haven't even needed a Tylenol or Advil since last night and have even gotten up and driven myself to an eye doctor checkup this afternoon. The hobbling around is a challenge, but manageable. I'm not so sure, though, that I'll be up for the daily logistics of traveling to St. Louis for a week of training starting this Sunday Sunday morning.

Anyway, here's how the test drive came out on the drive line work. There is the slightest, but almost non-existent, vibration right around 45-48 mph, so rotating the rear of the drive shaft did help things. I believe I will go ahead and cut two 1/8" spacer plates and try them one at a time to see if I can resolve 100% of the vibration, and am suspecting that I will probably only need one of them given how slight it is at the moment.

I'll keep you posted.
