Thank you for having the guts to share the mistake you made, it is not always easy to do so, but you may have saved someones leg, or even their life by sharing like this.
I know a guy who was under a truck, and the old POS somehow fell into reverse, and it drove off the ramps it was on, narrowly missing his head, and then continued reversing right out of the closed shop door and hit a dividing wall.

I appreciate the well-wishes and offers to help where possible. All things being the way they are, I'm in pretty good shape right now and the family and neighbors are doing a great job of keeping me in line and off my feet (for the time being).
As much as I feel sort of stupid for not having thought through the potential ahead of time, I've always tried to look on mistakes as being a sort of "tough love" friends in that they do (hopefully) teach valuable lessons when we choose to take those lessons to heart. I'm also convinced that they offer us opportunities to provide experiential guidance and insights to help others avoid the same msitakes (especially our children!).
I never mentioned what ended up happening with the truck... I guess it was partially due to the resistance of manuevering my knee and leg that helped it just settle in the low spot in the driveway. So, it landed exactly where i wanted it to, and even provided more clearance for my son and neighbor to do the reconnect than had it been anywhere else in the driveway. God is SO good.
Man Pete, we know you are a beast, you didn't have to try and benchpress the whole truck to prove it, LOL. Really glad you are ok, and are prayers will be with you for a speedy recovery.
At what point and time did you try and bench press the truck off yourself???I know I would of tryed to.
Get better quick BRO.

Amen to that.
I should apologize now Pete. About a month / three weeks ago I took the rear drive shaft off to grease the slip joint. This same thing (almost) happened. I couldn't get the drive shaft off so I gave it a tap with a hammer when it gave loose the truck started to roll . It stopped within six inches of hitting the down hill slope of my drive way. I layed there on the ground no creepy making sure that the truck didn't want to roll anymore before I tried to roll out from under it. Luckily I was able to get out and chock the tire before anything happened. I have always been careful working on vehicles. I have always chocked a tire and for some reason didn't this time.
So don't feel alone. I wish you a fast and painless recovery. Isn't our God great!!!

A good lesson learned for the rest of us.... I have never been one to crawl under my truck for anything without the e brake set and the tires chalked...

Can't add to much to what everyone else said. I did the same thing when I disconnected my drive shaft. Luckily, I was on a very little incline and was able to put a hammer under the front wheel and stopped the truck. Safety should always be the first thought when you take on any project. Sometimes easily overlooked. Now I wish I would of posted up what I did. Hope all goes good for you.....
