My new baby

As of a tuesday i am the proud owner of a 95 F250 Xl PSD 4X4 longed, after previously driving a 78 f250 4X4 with a 400 for the last 3 yrs. it is in need of new tires before the winter and was thinking before i put new tires on her i would like to lift it 4 inches and then put some bigger rubber on her to start the transfermation. so my question is do these trucks usually have 4.10's and if so what is the biggest tire i can run on 4.10's before i have to go to something bigger like 4.55's or so. i would like to put 35's under her. thanks

X2 on the new truck. Some trucks came with 3.55 and others came with 4.10. If you are running 70 mph and the tach reads about 1900rpm then you have 3.55. If your tach reads 2500rpm you have 4.10. You can run 35 inch tires without problems with either gear. These trucks make a lot of power down low. You just need to make some simple mods to help it out. 3inch downpipe and free flowing exhaust. IE lose the kitty and muffler or get a less restrictive muffler. Free up the intake with the 6637 mod.

I Agree! DP and air 1st these are the "gateway" mods. Then maybe the 10K That ought get you going in the right direction a lot quicker and faster.

have fun lifting that pig, the D50 front end is a bitch to get level and the toe angle right, you have to do a shackle lift for the front, it was a never ending battle when i did my leaf springs, it was an inch to high and it chewed my tires, just going around the block and back.but congrats on the truck! i have the same truck just xlt, get us some pics!

Swap to D60 if you're gonna lift it.

That is in OD.
The 6637 mod is a napa 6637 air filter. Remove the factory air cleaner. Get a 4inch 45* pipe and insert it into the factory rubber hose that used to connect to the factory airbox. The 6637 filter will slip over the end of the 4inch pipe and secure it with a new worm clamp. I do not have any pictures, but somebody else may chime in with some.

the dana 50 is just fine! no shackle mods! get a good lift kit and you will be fine, dont get the junk pivot bracket, get a heavy duty one. i posted picks in your other topic. skyjacker is the way to go with the lift kit for your truck. with the proper lift kit getting the front end aligned is no concern. i put 70k on my last set of bfg mudterrains, 35k on my next set of all terrains(wore out fast but even) and my current tires are 36 inch goodyear mt military tires, and i have a 6 inch lift. do not fear the dana 50. it is a solid rugged and dependable axle

also, i have 4.10's in my truck and the 35's are like driving the truck on stock tires and 3.55 gears. the 36's feel no different. i had 38.5 superswampers on it for about a month and they took some horsepower away.

Youngford, congrats on the new truck!! hope you enjoy it and enjoy modding like we do b/c we can damage your wallet if you don't watch it!! LoL. the 6637 intake, 3" downpipe to 4" exhaust will help ya out a bit. my truck has 3.55's with a 5 speed and it runs probably around 2k rpm around 68mph. it seems that my truck runs different rpms than most ppls but i'm not sure why that would be. haha. just look at your axle code on the sticker then figure out what rear diff you got from there or look at the tag on the rear end and it will say what it has. i gotta try to find the link to the axle code chart now. you won't have any problems running 35's though either way. if you have an auto there are some mods i would look into doing to the auto especially with the larger tires. i know Joe knows his stuff on the autos and lifts and what not on these things so he can probably tell you a lot on that subject.

95_Dually, i need me a new filter now after seeing yours!!! thanx for helping me spend another $40 on it!! haha. i will have to look into skyjacker now for the f150... LoL

Maybe this will help you understand your gearing vs tire size.
