Indeed the truck did get a lot of attention. When I pulled into the yard one of the guys told which chute to back in on. There was about three or four guys standing near the chute gate. They moved over a few feet and folded their arms and comenced to watch me try and back in with the 57 foot trailer. I made a wide swing and linged up on the gate. I backed it in and never once had to pull up to straighten up. Needless to say the old woman surprised them.

The cab was carried over from the 30's COE's but according to the pics I have 37 grilles were an oval shape like the 38's and 39's.

I would just like to say that I really enjoy looking at all the pics in this thread and thank everyone for posting the pictures. It's like stepping back in time.

I hope all the daily drivers serve their owners well for many more years and good luck to all the owners who have project trucks. I hope your restorations and "fix ups" go well and you achieve the results you're looking for.

I love the picture of you 54, the black and white gives the truck and the tractor character. BTW, I like the Morton building too. I have a 42 X 100 Morton building and it is the best investment I have ever made.

Never had any problem with the for cabover shifters.The old Freightliner air shifters were a little different to get use to

Dads truck driving school

My first "over the road trucking trip", I WAS 15yr. 8 mo. (with my learners permit) I was with dad ,picked up fertilizer 150 miles one way in his 1972 blue f 600.
My son scooped me he was driving in the hay field at 5 yr old!!!!!!!! he was wearing his seat belt.in a red 1975 f750.
