Tachometer stopped working

The tachometer in my truck just stoped working. What does it tie into on the motor? Is it cable driven or encoder driven? At idle it reads about 100rpm and at 40 MPH it is at 900 RPM. Also would it be better to post things like this in the Superduty Forum?

Dude I sure hope you get a reply. Because mine has been like that for over a year. I think I may have mentioned it on here before... but I don't think I had a reply. Mine still works... Its just way low. Sometimes it will be fine, then drop to zero or just above it. It will move when I press the pedal. So I dunno what the problem is.

No problem posting in both the superduty forum and here.

Check the wiring harness on your crankshaft sensor.

Are you having any other dash or gauge panel "glitches"?

I have not noticed anything wrong with any of the other guages. I just pulled out of a parking lot and and the needle jumped around and then went to 0, and after a few seconds it started reading again but not anywhere were it should be.
