this is wierd, i just inspected the new fuel return lines and got all the air out of the fuel system, its turning over and a little white smoke comes out of the exhaust, the starter relay is new and the glow plugs and injectors, so lost!
so u guys think its my batteries now? i did crank them alot and there heavy duty batteries, ill charge them tonight and well see what happens in the morning.
there circular posts and yea it does look like the cables have been hot come to think of it, i have to rebuild the starter due to tooo many tries getting this motor up, so tomorrow im goin back out to it, what does the hot cables mean though?
I had a problem with my truck several years ago, start this time, not the next for no reason.
So looking at the cables, all power to everything joins up in the passenger side positive battery cable clamp.
Insulation was dark red, brittle and flaking off.
So I was tired of the start/no start one evening and took a 4" angle grinder to the clamp where the cables are and cut it open.
With the amount of corrosion inside the wires and clamp, I don't see how the engine had started at all for the year or two.
But the problem is, when you cut that clamp off, finding a replacement that will hold all three wires will be a problem.
I did find a heavy duty bolt on clamp at Advance Auto, but to join all the wires I had to change the bolts out for longer ones till I got a couple replacement cables made.
NAPA can make the cable if they have the flag terminal for the passenger side battery for a lot less than you can buy a complete cable.
My local NAPA was out of flag terminals, so I had two cables made, one for each battery that join at the starter.
Just remember the passenger side needs the #4 wire to get power to the starter relay or glow plug relay depending on the year truck you are working on since that is where the power for everything other than the starter comes from and how the charge from the alternator gets to the batteries.
New cables and she cranks like no tomorrow.
