YFA in place of YF

Hello, my 70 F100 originally came with a Carter YF carb, which of course in the time before I owned the truck was taken off and switched to a Monojet. I got a YFA off a 82 or 84 from the junkyard, and rebuild it. I had to go back and find the fast idle linkage, and picked up a YF from a 68, and it looks alot simpler, no vacuumed bowl vent and of course less vacuum ports on the throttle body. Can I just plug them all up and use this? I would rather strip the linkage and return the carb instead of having to rebuild the yf as the junkyard marking has been removed off the yfa in cleaning.

Thanks

Any vacuum port on the new carburetor that isn't in use can simply be plugged. As for the bowl vent, on the YFA that would have originally gone to a charcoal canister along the frame rail on the '82. This was part of an evaporative emissions system, which your '70 won't have. In this case, it's best just to let it vent to the atmosphere (in other words, leave it unconnected). As long as your truck doesn't have to pass any sort of visual emissions inspection, you should be fine.

No emissions, so I'll just leave it open. Thanks.
