The switch is inside the door. Take WD40 and spray into the lock on the door and close. Do each door until you find the one that is the problem. No reason to tear into it to replace or bypass. About every 6 months just spray them down.

If I remember right - you just connect the wires together. It will now think the door is closed all the time from an electrical point of view.
Of course the light won't come on anymore when you open the door.

i've used carb cleaner for cleaning those switches in the past. it seems to penetrate pretty well and get the job done.

The water from your firewall is either a stopped a/c drain backing up or a heater core leak.

The water leak on the drivers side is most likely a windshield seal leak (very common on these trucks) . It is not very likely coolant or ac condensate would travel up and over the trans hump to the drivers side. If it is the windshield leaking it will probably leak into your GEM behind the fusebox soon if not already . This water in the GEM can cause all kinds of electrical problems.

You can seal the windshield yourself (you can buy a tube of windshield sealer at the autoparts store). You will need a large tube that goes in a caulking gun. Biggest problem is getting the seal back in. You will need to caulk from the top center of the windshield all the way down to the bottom of the windshield on the drivers side.
I had to use a screwdriver and lift the windshield to get that seal back in.

Or if you don't feel like fooling with it, you can go by a windshield place and have them seal it for you (not sure what the cost would be but surely no more than $50.00).
