400 2V Spacer Plate replacement

Rebuilding my 2150 and found the typical aluminum EGR spacer plate significantly burned out. Anyone have recommendation updates for replacement? I've read through the years of threads with opinions running wide on what to do/not do, use and where to get it. I am thinking eliminating the EGR plate and going with one or two phonolic spacers (other suggestions?). Not very interested in hunting the yards for used EGR spacers and I am leaning toward the argument that keeping the EGR system is unnecesarry. I have no emissions testing. Some clarity on "plugging the crossover" ???? would be very helpful as well.

Recommendation of actual successes in eliminating EGR greatly appreciated.

My engine is stock with 130,000 miles and seems fine other than the carb was failing and finally puked out. No near term plans for the desired engine project so just want to maintain basics for now. Maybe time to upgrade to a double roller straight up timing chain.

Heading out right now to NAPA and the Ford counter to see what is still available in parts/options.

Thanks in advance for replies.

I always plug the egr hole in the intake, under the spacer plate with a small freeze plug.

the EGR hole in my intake is a bit corroded as well. Best I can measure it seems a 3/4 in. plug would do the job. Did you seal it in with any high temp material or just tap in a tight plug?

I purchased the 3/4 in freeze plug. Do you put it in similar to a block plug with the dish side out? Does it matter?

Just put it in like any freeze plug. Don't use any sealer.
