where can i buy a "real" Y-pipe?

like this one that this guy made:

found in this thread:
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/54...exhausted.html

that factory mpg/hp robbing, sorry excuse of an exhaust Y-pipe, will never be used on my truck lol.
though id like it connected to a 3.5" collector,or hell,im not opposed to 4".im just running in front of the pass side rear tire.
this is all i need made.i can it take it from there.
thanks!

to bad no one made some good headers reasonably priced without the chrome.

Well, that isn't really a Y-pipe, the guy made that by flattening out an exhaust adapter into an oval and welding the pipes into it.

Lots of places make "real" Y-pipes though...Flowmaster and Magnaflow both have pretty nice ones that aren't overly expensive.

Both of those pipes sure spell "Y" in my book! You can have an exhaust shop make a custom example exactly like that, or look for a Banks "Stinger" Y pipe (not mfr'd anymore). Incidentally, the Banks Stinger Y pipe looks EXACTLY like the fabricated one in the picture. I would send a pic of mine, but I don't have one on my laptop.

Well, I just meant it wasn't a "pre-made" Y-pipe, it was built by that guy. I guess if you could get in there and weld it sufficiently, that would be a viable option.

getting my truck pretty much all together now.
i took her out for a run tonight after putting in the B&m shift kit in HD mode, and flushing the trans like in the article here by "mark" i think it was.nice write up.beats draining the tc the old way anywho lol.worked great,so i wanted to warm her up and top it up.
removed that giant restricted pig in the air cleaner(soup bowl.ford, wth where you thinking there? lol) and slapped in my K&N filter.
i love this trucks power!!! (mind you,im used to the little 300ci 6's in 1/2 tons,so my opinion my be skewed compared to others haha)
but man, this girl can get up and go.you can feel she has some real grunt for pulling under there.
this truck feels REALLY tight, like my old mans 08 f350!
she's much more quite in the cab now with the soundproofing.
and rides great with my springy/bounchy/soft 96f150 seat.
she shift's like a truck should now-perfect!!! no slamming of gears or anything, just "yes this is the next gear shift",just solid and to the point nicely!

now i free up her poor exhaust system.ford really held these things back with that poor Y pipe.that's really bad.

so what are you guys doing then? just go and get them made?
i sure hope most of you, ditched those factory things.the gains can be huge here.
no doubt you can feel the difference with a real Y out to a nice 3"+ pipe.
mpg has to increase at LEAST by 1 here.(most likely more by the looks of that thing lol)

she may not be my dads twin turbo'ed 6.4 ps(holly crap that thing hauls!hahah-id never need all that-ever),
but man,im going to be one happy camper with my new IDI,i can tell already!

I used the K.I.S.S. principle: I asked on this forum if anyone knew where I could get a Banks Stinger Y-pipe, and was fortunate enough to hook up with a member who had one to sell.

Yeah, it looks like stock just made from 3 inch pipe that is mandrel bent. There is a short piece of stock size pipe where it comes from the flanges before it transitions into 3 inch on each side tho. This is a much better flowing y pipe than stock. I do see what ya mean about the harsh angle. I dont know where you can get anything better, you will prolly have to have it made. This one works great for a stock NA engine.
