I've never heard one, but I'm pretty shure they would sound awful. Way too close to your ears for a start. The best sound system I ever heard in a car had the mids/tweeters down in the footwell, firing up at an angle and towards the centre of the car.

I heard something like whats in the link, its good only for talk radio! 10W speakers just don't have the rating to sound good. A behind the seat box will be better, or a tube speaker behind the seat and good door speakers.

I will agree with the prevoius posters! I thought the headliner/speaker set-up was a good idea with a poor result. I have never heard one but I would imagine the speakers would provide very little bottom end and might even cause unwanted harmonics by vibrating the roof!

I found a deal on Craigslist locally, 2 10 inch behind the seat box speakers, a 250 watt amp and a Sony CD head unit for $80 bucks. The guy pulled it from his chebby before he sold it and wanted it out of the garage.
I hooked up my door speakers also and it sounds awesome!
Good deals on sound equipment can be found for cheap!

Good Luck!

That's the truth. I had the same thing, except a hatchback box from my Mustang and I honestly couldn't even give it away. I tried to give it away on CL and Freecycle and nobody ever came to pick it up.

just buy some good quality speakers with a good quality radio and it should sound good. I have my interior speakers amplified and they sound super crisp. I still have to add sound insulation tho

I don't think it would sound that good. I have seen trucks that had it, but never heard it.

Tweeters should be mounted higher up not in the kick panel. I don't like those kick panel speaker setups because the take away leg room and are in the way with the parking brake pedal.

What I would do is get a good pair of door speakers that are 2 or 3 way. I don't think your truck has rear speakers, but if it does do the same thing. Then get a pair of tweeter if desired and mount put them in the lower corner of the windshield on the corners of the dash. I actually made little brackets and hung mine on the A pillars. You could also get a pair of these Pioneer truck rider speakers (or something similar) and put a 100 watt amp on them for behind the seat.

PIONEER TSTRX40 TRUCK RIDER 2Way BOX SPEAKER

I'm not a fan of subs. They are over powering and take up all the room behind the seat and usually require the seat to be moved forward. Besides that subs just advertise hey I have a stereo system come steal it.
