Throttle lag and hard start when hot....

Hey guys!
As some of you know I have stated that my truck didn't have the power I thought it should. It also had the hard start when hot (running in the store, getting back in, start stumble a little and die with the check guages message, then start on the second time perfect) that many people have. It being the 4.6, it's no race car. But I knew about what it should have. I was talking to a tech at the local Ford dealership and I mentioned the TSB 08-5-13 (I believe). He said it wasn't the injectors causing the hard start. He also said he wouldn't spend the money to replace the TB, but to clean it. I went to the local Advance Auto Parts and picked up some "TB cleaner" and some "Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner." $13 later (MAF cleaner is expensive) and WOW, what a difference! The thing is awake! It has so much more "staying-a-speed" power. I know that sounds weird but I could not hold a speed. I always blamed it on the ETC and it always wanted to downshift at every little hill. Now it will actually pick up speed going up a hill in overdrive. No throttle lag at all! Very peppy! Also, he said that the hard start when hot problems are almost always associated with the ETC (not sure). I'm hoping, because the thing hasn't hiccuped yet! I'll keep everyone updated because this is a common problem.

I don't exactly know which one fixed it, but it's worth a try if your truck is feeling sluggish. It drives like a brand new one. Make sure you don't use anything else on your MAF. They are expensive!

If you would like to get rid of all that throttle lag, upgrade to an Edge or Super Chip. You will be surprised.
