WTB. 73-79 Ford Truck AC control head for dealer AC
Just as the title says. I'm looking for the AC controld head for dealer installed AC (not factory). The control ***** will be in with the center AC vent, not in with the heater controls like factory air. I also need the passenger side vent. Thanks.

I think I saw a truck in a local yard that had this stuff on it. I could double check it for you. They are not the cheapest price on the planet on a/c controls and vents but.....

I just confirmed yesterday that the center vent with control unit is there, and the passenger side vent is there. $75 plus shipping and they are both yours.

There were twodifferent dealer installed A/C units, the parts do not interchange.
The dealer installed Deluxe A/C is integral with the heater, uses a bezel that spans the entire right side of the dash, covering up the glove box door in the process.
A separate glove box bolts to the bottom of the dash.
The dealer installed Economy A/C's control panel has two ***** and two registers. The existing dash glovebox is present.
The replacement parts for the Economy A/C's control panel (this appears to be the setup you have) were all sold separately:
Two individual switches, two *****, two registers, the panel itself. 1978/79 Bronco's also used this same Economy A/C.
NOTE: 1975/91 Econolines also have an Economy A/C, but the control panel...while it looks similar, is not the same.

Thanks for the info Bill. I don't know what is going on with my dash now. Mal68ibu, thanks for the effort but I no longer need it.
I actually found the dealer installed center vent with controls that I was looking for on ebay and got it for 99 cents!
The reason I was looking for the dealer air center vents is because I have a non-AC truck but the vent opening in the center and on the right have been cut out, but but the vents were both missing when I got the truck. It also has 2 small holes in the firewall that are not plugged, its looks like refrigerant lines once went through there. I found a factory AC center vent and it did not fit so I was thinking the truck once had dealer air and someone took it. So I got my dealer center vent and it does not fit either. It looks like someone cut some random holes in the dash that fit no vents.
I found a whole new dash for $20 and I already have my old dash out. It is being painted along with the rest of the truck but I think I am going to paint the dash black like my dads 79 is.
aysw6670, do you have the whole AC set up including compressor for sale? I do want to add AC to the truck.

My guess is, after reading what you typed, your truck had an aftermarket A/C system.
Besides the two Ford dealer installed A/C units, Sears, Western Auto, Mark IV, Frigid-King and others sold add-on A/C for these trucks.
It's also possible you got a 1975/91 Econoline dealer installed Economy A/C control panel.
It looks similar, but it is not the same, so...it will not fit. It's also possible the control panel you bought on ebay is from an aftermarket A/C, since most ebay sellers haven't a clue!

Ah, I'm thinking it had aftermarket air then too, I hadn't thought of that. I will most likely buy that Nostalgic Air system when the time comes, it's around $895 I think.
Here is the center vent I got on ebay. This one does not fit my dash and neither does a factory AC center vent. But like I said that dash is out and I already have it's replacement.
This Ford part number is for the bezel only, the switches, ***** and each of the two registers were sold individually.
Fits: 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.
This is the only bezel there is for Economy A/C.
---------------------------------------------- D3TZ19A949A is the bezel used for the two switches, two round ***** for Dealer installed Deluxe A/C.
If the A/C bezel has levers that slide back/forth, it's the A/C Heater Control Panel for factory installed Integral A/C (there are several different versions).
This type of control panel comes with the levers, the ***** were sold individually.
There are two cutouts, one is used for the blower switch, the other is used for the fuel tank switch (if applicable), or for the power rear window switch on 1978/79 Bronco's.
Or the bezel is for an aftermarket (not FoMoCo) A/C unit.

Anyone give me any pointers on how to replace the heater/ac control unit on my 79 F150? Old one works but plastic on front is broken. I got a used one on ebay, but the top slide that adjusts from cool to warm only slides about half way before hitting something. Maybe once I get all of the vacuum hooked up that will change
You pull the dash bezel off, cover or whatever its actually called, and you should see some screws holding it to the dash, Been a while since I was in one with air but I'm pretty sure they come out the front once its all unhooked . Also if the original poster still needs that a/c control I have one somewhere around here from a 79 bronco, might have the register too but not sure unless I look..
