Reverse Sensors

Hey guys, newbie here...Just got a 2007 f250 supercab long box with 90 000kms on it. Absolutely LOVE this truck! Anyways, my reverse sensors wont work. When i start the truck, the gauge says that they're on, and when i put it in drive, they're still on. However, as soon as i put it into reverse it automatically shuts off, and i cannot turn it back on. Whats the problem here?

thanks, this is an awesome forum.

chances are one of the sensors went bad, but to be sure you need to have a scanner plugged in at the dealer. check or wiggle the plugs at the sensors first, i had one do that and that fixed it.

Get underneath the back bumper and see if you can get the sensors out. They do have a tendency to corode and/or get plugged with stuff. Disconnect the sensors and clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner. That's only about $5.00 - new sensor harness is $700.00 installed. Still have the old work order when Ford had to do mine when I bought the truck. Now the first part that I wash on the truck is the back side of the bumper.

Alright i just finished cleaning all the connections and it didnt work. The sensors were filthy but the actual connections were clean. I sprayed and blew em anyways, but like i said it didn't work.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry, but as Mrford60 said you'll now have to take it to the dealership. With their scanner they will have to identify which sensor and you'll have to have it replaced. Worst case scenario they will have to replace the harness.

I've never tried this but get a resistance reading on each sensor and see if one of them is out of the ballpark. Just a WAG on my part.
