Bottom. But it's a tight squeeze getting the filter down past the heat shield.

Top, easy to pull it through. Let it drain first then put your finger in the center hole to hold it as you pull. Don't do when it is hot.

with my lift (stock 4x4) its very easy to do through the wheel well, just pull back the protective skirt
