Check engine light on after oil change..

'07 250 , 85k miles. Did the normal oil change, including filter. Added a quart of Hotshot's oil additive. I've used this before, about every 3rd oil change. Now the check engine light is coming on intermitently, mostly on. No pattern I can notice, such as cold engine or first thing in the morning. Any Ideas? thanks.

I'd suggest getting the code read. Could be many things, but without the code, it's like trying to target shoot while blindfolded.

Cheapest code readers that read and reset is about $30 to $40...

Or Autozone etc. will let you use theirs for free.

Finally got my hands on an AutoIngenuity code reader. It is reading a code P0683, glow plug failure to communicate. I've reset it twice, and it returns within the next two or three starts. I'm not sure what I'm looking for to check wiring or connections to the GPM. Anybody got pictures? Thanks....

Look for wire chafing on the right side of the engine harness, there was a recall on my 2005.
