03 Expy Step Bars

Hi I just recently bought a new 03 Expy which now has 4000 miles and I wanted to give it a more rugged look so I've decided to take the running boards off and install tubular step bars. My question is which one do I buy that would look good and last a long time. I've done some research and the following are companies that make nerf bars for the 03 Expedition. But without actually seeing the bars in person I Don't know how they look. Please let me know your opinions on these bars or what you have on your trucks adn why. Thanks

Smitty Built
Manik
Waag

Westin

03 Expy Step Bars

I know that this is not the inexpensive option, but Ford offers the step bars on its off-road model '03 Expedition. Maybe you can find out who supplies these to Ford, and try to purchase direct...

Post 03 Expy Step Bars

I have been looking myself and I have found the Westin's to look the best. Pep boys carry some in stock for your viewing, however, they have to be ordered for the expedition. I prefer the running boards so let me know how much you want for them. Thanks.

03 Expy Step Bars

I have had Smittybilt and Go Rhino. They both were black so they both started to rust at vulnerable places (rock hits, edges, etc).

Therefore my advice would be if you can afford the Stainless or Chrome Stainless or Chrome...much less likely to rust.

My '03 Expy is my first experience with running boards as the above were step bars. I like the look of the step bars better but I find the utility of the running boards better. Given the choice (and the fact that I already paid for it with the new car), I would choose the running boards.

Good luck. I don't think you can go wrong with the big brands like Westin, Smittybilt, Go Rhino, Manik, etc.
