yeah, the k&n lol, take off your intake and look at your implelor blade and look for chips, rounded edges, dusting, sounds like you have a low boost issue

Start out by checking the fuel pressure at the schraeder valve on the FPR

your problem is very vague to say the least. 12mpg? what model truck is it? crew cab, standard cab... dually? how bad does it run? from you you have posted the truck sounds stock so it doesnt have that much power to begin with. is this new to you or owned it for a while? need more info on the truck and problems

Thanks for the replies!

Its a friend's truck. I would never ever put a K & N on anything I owned! Turbo problems because of the K & N. This is my first thought. I told him he should have someone look at the vanes on his turbo to see if they are worn. I also think his cat could be plugged, but there are no overheating issues. I checked his Y pipe & clamps & they seem serviceable. The motor does not miss, its pretty smooth.

Its a dually, 4 door. It doesn't smoke, nor does it have much blow by, nothing out of the ordinary.

He gets about the same mileage pulling a trailer or not.

I have the same model but its a '95 & I get 18mpg plus I have a persistent tiny fuel leak in the valley.

Just trying to see if I missed anything obvious.

I will pass on the fuel pressure check. But his truck still motors down the highway at 75-80mph just takes it's sweet time to get there.

My truck when it was stock was a real dog. On the drive home I kept thinking, why did I buy this gutless pig? I corrected that problem.
