What is White sponge/filter junk loose in 6f35 Trans?

When I pulled the transmission (6F35) dipstick on 09 Escape AWD, it pulled out with a piece of white plastic foam/filter/sponge material that came out wrapped around the dipstick a few inches down from the dispstick-to-tube seat. It is irregular in shape, about 1/2" x 1/2" x 1/8". Any ideas what broke loose from where?

You may be curious to know that the ATF went very low while doing a 4Flat-tow behind my RV, and sprayed over a lot of the engine compartment. And, you may already know there is an issue where some of the transmissions are going bad while doing this allowed tow.

But, all I need to know for now is what came apart inside the tranny, so I can have that info in my back pocket while talking to the local dealership shop. They are really good people, but they have not seen this before.

Thanks,
Pat

I think ford might be having problems with some of these trannys but i think they're holding off on sone TSB or recalls. My uncle and cousin both lost there tranny on there 09 and only about 8000km on them.My wifes was having some hard shifting issues, they re flashed the computer, she says it seems better.
