96 F350 transmission problem E40D

Got in my truck this moring and took off down the road. As I pulled out of my driveway the tranny is shifting diffrently than it always has. When it shifts through the gears it shifts hard like if it had a shift kit in it. It has never done this before. I immeadiatley stopped and checked the dipstick level which was fine. Unsure what could of happened??????? Any help would be appreaciated. The truck is a 96 F350 , 5.8L, E40D 4x4

Has the OD light been blinking recently? Sounds like the tranny went into limp mode after it discovered a problem. It does this for two reasons. One, to get your attention and it obviously worked. Two, to help prevent further damage. Pulling the codes from the computer would be the first step.

I need to know whether those are KOEO, CM, or KOER codes. It changes the meaning. Also I believe you should be getting three-digit codes. Did you use a code reader or did you count the blinks of the check engine light?
