Question ODB I Tuner questions

Im just curious... i know with like the ODB II systems tuners can go through and turn things off.. like O2 Sensors, EGR sensors.. things like that.... But i was wondering if it was possible for it to be done on ODB I systems too??

like if i wanted to keep the stock tune or make it more "fuel efficient" could those sensors be turned off??

If fuel efficiency is what you want you wont get there easily with a tuner, get a programmable wideband O2 sensor like the Innivate LC-1 to replace the stock sensor and set the narrowbad output to an A/F ratio leaner than 14.7:1

not really was just to satisfy some of my curiosity... my current truck has an ODB I system on it and the EGR valve keeps tripping the sensor.. (little annoyed with it really) from what ive learned those Generation 1 EGR's like whats on my truck were prone to issues with carbon build up and constantly tripped the sensors.. so was more of curiosity of whether they could be turned off or not..

If your EGR is setting a code there's something wrong with it, it's as simple as that. The old EGR system used on early trucks can be eliminated without setting a code but if you have the DPFE version found on mid '90's trucks you're SOL. The TweecerRT I have can disable things like the EGR but it's a $500 tuner, you could probably fix your EGR problem for free if it's just a dirty valve or broken vacuum line. What code is it setting?

mines an 87... (and no not a ford ) but with inspections around here i cant delete the actual thing either

i replaced it back when i rebuilt the engine almost 3 yrs now.. it did it with the old EGR too (why it got replaced)... ill be sitting at a light and itll pop up.. start moving again and itll go out.. then theres other times itll pop back up while cruising for about 15 seconds and then go out again..

as far as i can tell the vacuum lines are good.. not hearing any hissing or anything like that from them...

ill have to get back to you on the code... i was gonna go pull it again since i cant remember the number it gave for it... but dads apparently loaned out the code reader we have to a guy at work.. might get it back tomorrow...
