took me by surprise today

I got in my pickup today and turned the key and nothing. No click, nothing. Thought maybe I left the lights on or something and killed the batteries. I put a charger on them and the charger indicated that they were charged, so did my volt meter. I took a reading at the starter and it showed almost 13 volts. After charging a little bit I got a click when turning the key. I took the starter to autozone and the first test it sparked bad then took off. They said it was OK but I said I didn't like that spark and to test it again. Second test no spark, third test there was another spark. I said the heck with that, give me a new starter. Took it home and I could not believe the rpm's the new started turned my motor over. In conclusion, the old starter was gradually getting slower wearing out and I didn't even notice it. I'm so used to stuff breaking 'right now' that this sitution took me by surprise.

mine did that EXACT same thing except i didn't get it tested. it got to the point where i could tell that it was BARELY starting the truck so i upgraded it to the SD starter while i was doing it. from what i'm told they have more torque than ours do

Is there any mods required to put a SD starter in our trucks? AND does any one know for sure if that is true about the more torque thing? Just checkin strokin, I likes to be in the know.

Cody(Rubberduck) told me they have more torque. i have always trusted him on these things so thats what i went to since mine was bad anyways. it is a DIRECT bolt on. no changes are required at all. all wires go to the same place and all.
