I have been thinking about doing an sas lately, and was wondering what happened to a certain build thread where a guy took a ttb f250 and put a full floating sterling in the rear w/ disk brake conversion and a kingpin d60 up front. I don't remember the name of the guy who wrote it, but I remember it was a grey 1987-1991 body style f250. Does anybody know the thread I'm talking about? or where to find it? I remembered the thread was pretty informational and would like to look at it again.
Allright, thanks. I already looked at ibleedblue's and 9.ford.5's threads. They were good, but it would be nice to have a bit more 1 ton info. thanks anyway though.
Do you have any particular questions? I have just done this swap on a 94 Bronco using the Sterling rear axle with disc brakes, and a Dana 60 front.
Mine is identical to any F-250 SAS of this era. I seldom write any step by step, but I can answer anything related to the swap.
As 75F350 said, you could just ask any questions you have.
There are alot of SAS threads out there, you just have to search. If you are determained to find that specific post, then you could just spend awhile searching fo the word "SAS". But there are years worth of posts to look through sooo...

No thanks, I'm good (as far as searching through years worth of "sas" goes) Thanks guys, it turned out that the "sas tech article" was the one I was looking for. That's a good one. so far it seems like a basically bolt-in straightforward swap. But as far as questions go, I am wondering now whether or not the brake rotors and hubs from my d44 hd ttb will bolt on to the d60? (it's an f250 light duty) And also, would you guys recommend a full rebuild of the axle or just rip er out of the f350 and sling er under the front of my f250 (if the gears match and all)? I plan on eventually running a detroit up front when I get the extra cash, so I might tear the axle back apart again in the future, maybe then would be a good time for the rebuild? thanks guys, much appreciated to a newb solid axle swapper.
Allrighty then, new hubs, rotors, and calipers it is. And I haven't put much thought in to the shackle reversal. Any input on that or anything else is apprecieated.
