What is this?

What kind of hitch is this? I have never seen one. Is it okay to use as a "single" in the center as shown or do I need change it out for a conventional one?

TIA

Your photo isn't showing, but I cut and pasted it and can see it. You have some kind of triple receiver setup. Perhaps the outer two were built for a carrier rack.

I've never seen such a thing sold commercially, but there could be. Try to get the photo to show so we can get the opinion of others. Maybe search it over carefully for a makers name. It could even be an OEM receiver, with extra receiver tubes just bolted on the outer ends. There is just not enough in that photo to know.

From the very minimal detail in that photo, the center receiver looks standard enough. At least for light trailers. But I would want to know more before I trusted it with a WD.

Pic

I HATE you can't post a pic directly to the post. If you right click and open the pic in a new window or tab and you can see the pic.

Here is the actual URL:

Also, I can't inspect the hitch to get any info. off of it because I'm in Afghanistan. I just thought maybe someone here would know.

The center looks stock. It appears that the outer two were probably added to carry a rack of some type.

I'm gonna say that those outer hitches were put there to hook up some type of recivier hitch for a pull strap? Warn winches makes a recevier hitch that comes with a tow hook/eyelet design for a strap/chain to be hooked thru...

derfm,

Sorry, this is all I have. If I was home, I'd look at taking it off and sending it to you. If you're still interested in Feb., send me a PM.

It was probably either for a drawbar setup or possibly a custom step or grill.

How are they attached? Is it just square tubing welded to the outsides of the reciever?

Not sure how they are attached, I have not seen it personally and will not until I get home.

The consensus is, it is custom and no one really know for certain!

I bet you could get 3 of those receiver grills on that thing! Then you could have a real tail gate party!

I was thinking more like just one big one connected to the outer receivers. That would keep it from being able to tilt latterally.

I think outer ones are for a motorcycle carrier and the center one was used for a travel trailer.

Yeah, I have heard about the sled pulling more than once. I guess it is possible, but I hope not!! That can't be good for that tranny.
