I would recommend the Ford Product, do you really want to be doing this repair again in 10,000 miles?

Rather than spend $500 on master, slave and line because the box they come in says Ford on it Ill spend a fraction of that and still be back on the road. I appreciate your input, but my uncle has worked at many different dealerships here in Las Vegas as a parts mgr over the last 30 years and knows that most all parts are made in the same places, just packaged and priced differently depending on the brand name. Also, most dealers use a lot of reman'd parts when they perform work on your vehicle and just dont tell you so.

More like 350 for everything, master, slave, resivior, lines. And that's list price, your uncle could get you a cheaper deal.

Unfortunately he doesnt work for Ford anymore....I used to get hooked up with great prices when he did but he is with Toyota now and the dealers around here have stopped hooking each other up. If the dealership a few miles away wanted $140 for the dinky plastic line alone there is no way I could get the reservoir, master, slave and line for $350. Case in point Eaglefixer says he paid $90 for the line no more than 3 months ago, yet my dealership wants $50 more...List price is list price but not all dealers charge the same amount for every part. But theres no need to worry about what it would or wouldnt cost since I am not going that route.

In the end parts are parts. People always think the dealer parts are better because they cost more but besides price they are the same mechanically. If I have any troubles with the ACDelco kit I will be sure to post about it but I do not foresee that happening.

Update: I finally received the kit today 11/10. Apparently Rock Auto dropped shipped the item instead of stocking it so even though I placed the order on 10/30 it did not ship until 11/5 and then took the usual 4-5 business days it takes to receive orders from them.

Miller, I'm sorry but I forgot to take pictures of everything included since I was just happy it finally arrived and by the time I remembered I already had the master installed. Now for the info you are looking for...the kit includes a prefilled/bled reservoir, master cylinder and line, slave cylinder and a starter/clutch interlock switch. The picture on the website showed it containing the metal and the plastic pushrod but it did not come with kit so I reused the old one. At first I thought the line was wrong because it didnt look exactly like the old one or the picture on the website but that was just because of how it had been packaged in the box.

So I spent the last hour before sun down this evening removing the old master, line and reservoir and getting the pushrod out of the old master...its no joke that once it goes in there its not comin out without a fight! I used a hacksaw to get the master cylinder's retaining clip off the end of the pushrod without damaging the metal part of the pushrod and then proceeded to install the new ACDelco reservoir, master cylinder and line. Ive read where it is a pain to get it all into place since you have to work around the steering shaft, booster and distribution box but it was a piece of cake. No lie I had the new parts in place in less than 20 minutes including the new interlock switch, clutch pedal and everything under the hood and in the cab bolted up and back in place. So now I have to wait until friday (my next day off) to toss the transmission, crossmember and driveshaft back in place and everything will be good to go!

This kit is high quality and includes every piece of the hydraulics system of the clutch. I would recommend it to anyone looking to replace any part whether it is the master, line or slave because of its great price. I purchased mine for 84.79 + $7 shipping from Rockauto.com but I also found it at oehq.com for $79.71 although Im not sure what they charge for shipping. I think its great that the master is pre bled for you so all you really have to do is install the parts and then gravity bleed the slave once the transmission is installed and you are ready to go.

edit: Miller, the kit says fits 1998-2000. I checked the Rockauto catalog for you and it shows a different part number 390021 vs the 390022 that I got. It shows it is $10 more but that is still dirt cheap considering a new slave is ~60 bucks and new master is $60-70 depending on where you get it, plus you get the line and a new interlock switch which surprisingly had a ford part number on it. I have included a link below for you to compare the two kits, I think the line may be the only difference, but since they both use the M5OD I dont understand what would be different about them. You most likely could even use the kit I got because the lines really dont look much different at all, and they are flexible enough to make up any slight difference that there might be. Be sure to order it ahead of time and just keep it around until you goto install it that way you arent waiting with your truck out of commission for 10 days like I have been. If there's anything else you need to know just ask me bud

Ive been working pretty much everyday so it took a while to get the afternoon off to put the transmission back in....did that today though. Put everything back together, filled the transmission and gravity bled the slave cylinder and everything works perfectly. I am going to have to get used to where the clutch grabs since it is so much different than it was before with the bad slave. All in all for $91 you absolutely cannot go wrong with this kit
