1994 f150 XLT shifting problems

My 1994 f150 with the 5.0L engine (yes i now have two trucks dont ask why) Seems to downshift on its own, ill be going down the highway and it doesnt have a tach, but the rpms shoot up and the truck slows down when i DONT PUSH the accelorator. It seems to me to be doing it more at high speeds when warm....could just be me though....any thoughts? I know jack about automatic trannys

i dont know a whole lot about them either. but my buddies explorer was doing that also, was just low on fluid but ended up blowing it up cause he never filled it. when he put a new one in i did the same thing. that ended up being the computer. but it might also be a bad clutch pack for overdrive. hopefully someone smarter than me comes in with something more helpful though

I checked the fluid, beyond me but it was wicked low....I filled it, then today it did it once again to me....it feels like its in neutral when it does it possible slipping? The level is still a little low just under the box with the XXXX check lines. Could it being that little bit low cause problems? (i put 2 qts in it yesterday thats how low it was) Or could it be something else? Its a pain cause i do highway driving, and i go so slow cause i dont want to damage anything.

Any input would help!

Can anyone answer me that? O.o Can fluid being the slightest bit low cause slipping? As in a little under the crosslines on the dipstick?

Also, might just be me but it seems when i bring the fluid level to the right place the pedal seems to be easier to push? as in it doesnt seem as hard

When was the last time the filter/fluid was changed? Maybe try adding some Lucas or something. Does the tranny shift out good other than the OD problem?

Well atm, it seems to be slipping not downshifting. The filter and fluid was changed last week.

Would partially low fluid cause slipping? (not low by much)
