It is always a good idea to open the diff covers before buying any type of axle.
Buying one that you cant inspect is like buying shoes based upon the box, and the box alone. Most of us at least open the box to verify that the shoes are the same, and at a minimum, the right size. If you get your shoes home and they dont fit, or you end up with one brown shoe and one black one, there is not any single person to blame other than the one that never opened the box.
The same is true for axles / differentials....................
I cant tell you how many diffs I have opened up that had a ratio different than what the tag indicated. I have also seen plenty of LS tags on the outside and not a sign of a clutch within the carrier.
Physical verification is the only way to really know..............

The taller the person, the larger the foot.
So why in the hell do shoe stores put the smallest shoe sizes on the TOP shelves, the largest shoe sizes on the BOTTOM shelves?
