55 Grille

I would really like to have a chrome grille for my 55. Has anyone had theres chromed? Did you have to drill the spotwelds and disassemble it or could it be chromed in one piece? If you disassembled it how did you get to the center welds where the two top bars come together?
Or I will go out on a limb and ask does anyone have an extra laying around?
Thanks

Had mine chromed in Edmonton (Fairmont). They took it apart and stripped it and then somewhat put it back together. Looks good but still isn't back on the truck as the new motor isn't in either.......

Might as well spend it, you can't take it with you!

Plating does not do well in tight corners. So to do a good job, the grille must come apart, the pieces plated, then bolted back together where the spot welds were.

Pretty expensive in my books @ $400. But they took it apart, stripped it and fixed any minor dings etc and then put it back together after. So I guess it wasn't bad. It was a pretty good job. Maybe not show quality but that wasn't what I was looking for anyway.

I paid $400 as well to get my 56 grill chromed locally. they had a pic of a 55 grill they did on another truck.. said price was the same..

Advanced plating in TN would be closest to you

While my grill isn`t quite 100% perfect there`s lots more to do before I think about it.
