alxsnmr is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Is there a place with a "good" set of instructions. I know the 4WD rags use to do spots on how to DIY re-gearing but it was always on the new vehicles and rarely on the older trucks. Though their DIY sections seemed a little more graphical than wordy, and the Hanyes manual that I have seems a little lacking in wordy and extremely lacking in graphical. Though I think I am going to be due for a rebuild on my 8.8 which is a different beast...it would helpful in finding this information out.

Also, I dont think that anyone here is a clueless first timer, and if they are they tend to understand rather quickly from the help of everyone on the site or leave, 'cause that is what its about and cumbya circles, too.

This is the best I could find. 8.8 Axle Gear Install

I once had a bookmark that covered how to do c-clip axles. THe work was done on a chevy 10-bolt but the 8.8 axle is so similar 99% of the steps can be applied to the 8.8.

I believe running a "trace pattern" is a good idea. You put yellow grease on the gears once its all assebled, turn it, and the grease shows how the gears mesh with eachother
