Swapping to an automatic do I need to pull the pilot bearing?

I've got a mid seventies block from a manual trans truck and am swapping it into my Bronco, which is an auto. Can I leave the pilot bearing in or is it necessary to pull it?

One other question, can I use the crank pulley from the '85 on the seventies block?

Thanks.

dustybumpers is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
pilot bearing has to come out. use your grease gun, and the pilot tool. keep putting the grease in there, and smashing the pilot tool in, it will come out. the damper is the same until 86.

The torque converter has a nub in the center that goes in where the pilot bushing is, so you gotta pull it out or else when you tighten down the bolts on the trans, it will force the TC into the pump and lock up the trans. Ask me how I know.
