I ask because I am from Denver and my dad rebuilt Cruisers for a while, and he was pretty well known as being the guy to go see if you needed a part.
Yup, built them out of Denver. I had a couple of 40's, a 55 that I never managed to do anything with and an 80. The money pit was my 73' FJ40. I pretty much went through the whole thing - injected small block Chevy, NV4500 trans, lockers, you name it. I got bored with four wheeling after the formerly challenging trails were a walk in the park. Started doing some of the extreme stuff and did not care much for breaking things and risking my butt all of the time. Sold the 40 about five years ago and the 80 a couple years ago. I still have my Miata though

Did you ever see a lime green '69 FJ-40 out and about on the trails? It's my brothers and we spent A LOT of time in that thing back in the day, did a lot of wheeling in it. Had the 350 Chebby, etc. so on and so fourth. Its the only Cruiser anyone in the family still owns. Rest got sold. My sister had a purple '77. Still have a friend who is very much into cruisers, Ige.

Man am I slow, just now posting!

I am 22 and work as a Computer Tech/Network Tech in a small repair shop but trying to find a job in a larger corporation doing help desk work.

I bought my truck last year and did because my first truck (87 F-150 with the I6) was giving up the ghost, with more then 280,000 miles on it that engine just had it. I grew up playing in a 7ton sand box with all the Tonka trucks out there, I loved big trucks but as a kid who doesnt! I had the chance as a teen to drive a 98 or so dodge turbo diesel and after that I was sold, the smell, power and sound! My Dad restores old Jaguars so as a kid I got to help him dismantle and rebuild some which probably got me interested in doing all my own repairs and being so picky about who touches what, I couldn't let anyone do the repairs anyway! I chose the 7.3 after doing more then months of reading and research. It took me 3+ months to find the right truck, but I cant be happier with the one I bought!

This forum has been a big help and the people on it are the best out there!

I am 51 and have been working with the same computer company for 31 years as a technician/project manager. I have worked on multiple large mainframes and a couple of super computers. Most of that time was on a DOD project here in the Denver area. I did short stint maintaining computers on an air force ship off the coast of Russia with the Cobra Judy project. I have been married for 31 years also. (I was busy at 19) I have 4 grown kids and 2 grandkids. I was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for 9 years and now have served almost 8 years on the board of directors for the fire district.
About 5 years ago my father in law passed away and we bought his 5th wheel. He had a 2 wheel chebby truck to pull it but I was looking for 4x4 so after help from this site on what to look for I found a 2000 f250 CC on ebay in the Houston area. Love the truck!! So do my sons and brother who are always looking to borrow it.

I am 25 and a Dairy farmer in southern michigan. I used to work on computers but hated working with the people so I came home and took over the family dairy farm. We milk 60 cows and farm about 400 acres. IH is in our blood, we have 2 806, 2 1066, a 1456, a 3588, and a 1460 combine. I have worked on all these engines and know them inside out; you could say we are well vested in IH. I dont have any kids but have been with my lady for 7 years and been living with her for 3. I got the truck because I needed somthing that I could work the crap out of and it would keep on going. Plus my girl has horses and needed somthing that she could drive as well.

I am a 21 year old Corrections Officer for the Delaware Dept. of Corrections. I work in the Disciplinary Housing Unit in one of our states 3 large institutions. I am also a U.S. Marine (reservist) and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I'm a petroleum engineer for the Marines.

I cut my teeth as a concrete mason where I learned I have a natural talent for concrete finishing. I also ran heavy equipment, tied steel, etc. I bought my first true work truck from my foreman. It was a 1990 F-250 7.3 IDI. The body of the truck was beat to ***** but the motor was strong. I taught myself about diesels by tinkering with this truck. While in Iraq I worked for our Fuels section doing maintenance on our 4 cylinder Perkins diesel pumps and our Humvees.

I bought my truck within 4 days of being home from Iraq. I was actually looking to get an older Dodge for the 5.9 Cummins. I found my truck at the dealership (Ford) where a friend of the family is head service manager. I fell in love with my 7.3 Super Duty and the PMS set in from there...

This thread is fun...

I had worked for over thirty years in power plants Un til a person I didn't get along with was made plant manager and canned me. I can drive truck but at the moment it don't pay and I can do heavy equipment but at the moment in my area that is dead also. So I run my farm and am looking for work off farm to help make ends meet at the moment.

Hey Mike, Big Joe, thanks alot. I'm sure Adam will agree with me as would any other vet that we don't do it for the attention or the "thank yous."

To the OP, sorry for the briefly hijacked thread!

No sweat. I too, appreciate your service. It's never often enough that we need to be reminded of our freedom and way of life, and those that serve to protect that. Thanks.
