reverse roatation gears

hello i have a 1993 f-150 w/ 4.9 and 5sp i am looking to put some new gears in the front axle just so it matches the rear end. The rear end is 3:54 or 3:55 ratio i can't remember but i am looking for a ford part number to order some gears for the front end. I have gone to the dealer inquiring about a new set but they want me to bring the old tag in (which is missing) and if it weren't they'd only know that the original gears are 3:08. So i am wondering if anybody has done this before the rear end had an open diff and I am sure the front is the same. also i am going with ford parts just cause they should not be too noisy when done.

thanks

First, have you confirmed what your front ratio is? Count the turns, pull the cover, whatever? Did you, or a prior owner who told you, change the rear and not the front?

3.08s in a 4x4? Doesn't sound right to me, but that means little.

yep the rear end had 3:08's i got them changed out a couple of years ago, i was just too cheap at the time to get the front swapped as well. the thing definitely was a highway cruiser,

No such thing as "reverse rotation gears, they are High pinion reverse cut gears.

Right or wrong, the axles, and in the Currie link, the gear sets, are referred to repeatedly as "reverse rotation".

IIRC you can even find that in the owner's manual where they explain the data codes.

As with many terms, it may or may not accurately describe the exact function of the mechanism.
