new project

My dads 65 F100 2WD SWB is at my house, ready for reconditioning, modernisation and a restomod. The body is good for a Michigan truck, the frame and chassis are in excellent shape and the drivetrain options are endless. Me I'd love to put a big block and a toploader in it but it will probably get a 300 six and a five speed. He likes fuel injection, so it's gonna get that more than likely. The milage on that combo is a big plus since he lives 90 miles away and he don't wanna go broke visiting us on this side of the state. He's on a fixed income man!

He's pretty well off though and he's funding it so it should go quicker than my projects.

Gonna start with having the frame and chassis blasted and powder coated.

fun, fun, fun!

No pics. My camera is still on the fritz.

I'll keep a progress report and pics flowing though, after my camera is fixed. And I'll probably be needing some frindly advise and info and maybe some parts.

Sounds like a good start, and always nice when you don't have to pay for the parts!

Injected 4.9 (300) is a great motor. Had one in my '87 Bronco. Should be an easy score at a wrecking yard too. Sounds like a cool project. Keep us posted.

I've always wanted to do the fuel injection thing on my 4 WD as the carb sometimes gives out when doing stuff you shouldn't be doing with a 4 WD. climb to steep a hill and it'll quit for the lack of gas. anyway doing the electronics part of the install is way over my head. keep us posted. Dutch

The most basic fuelie upgrade is 3-4 wires man ! As long as you get the engine harness with the engine, it's not that hard. Electric fuel pump, power to the fuel pump, power the the engine computer, a ground and not much more. Don't be intimidated. It's not that difficult.

And thanks for the encouraging words. I'm gonna keep you all posted.

Found a good running 5.0 H.O. fuelie for it from a 91 Lincoln mark VII, complete, accessories, wiring, computer, everything for $200. It's in my pole barn right now. My oldest brother is gonna take it home to clean it, dress it up some, and figure out what trans my dad wants. Probably the AOD that's behind it, but it needs a rebuild. But it could also be a toploader 4 speed! My dad still likes his manuals.
