I finaly found a c6 that is got a a wonderful price however without having them side by side how can i tell if it came off of a 302/351w/c or a 400? as the person is not sure what motor it was bolted to.

ok there was no data plate on the trans but the stamped number on the housing is e7tp-7006-c8 could anyone translate it for me?

well I found the answer guys it had the bolt pattern for a 400 guess I am back to looking

 

what are you looking for? bell housings can be changed.

 

I know they can be changed but it is a one piece housing the bellhousing isn't removable

 

Your options for an E7 (1987) C6 are small block (300,302,351WC) then the 460 (it will fit the 351M and 400) and the diesel that only fits diesel. You are correct the C6 bellhousing can't be removed so you have to get the right one.
