Has anyone tryed useing something else other than wood in there pick up bed floor?? I was thinking of useing a sheet of checker plate has anyone used this?? or maybe someone has some pictures?? cheers
I used the stock wood but have seen a few trucks with the checker plate and also some that have tried the marine plywood and some other type of thick plywood with some slats glued down on top for bed strips. Some have looked good and then again some have looked bad.
A few of us have actually cut the bed floor from later model trucks to use in our effies. Check out my gallery and also BobbyT's.
that's the sort of thing im on about is it bolted down?? my truck is not a show truck and i wanted to try something abit different rather than just wood. that looks good tho.
I'm wondering if anyone who is going to really use their bed has ever thought of using TREX. It's modified plastic but water proof? Food for thought.
Is that the stuff that they use for bus stop benches and picnic tables, made from recycled milk jugs? I had thought of that but it only comes in pretty ugly colors, at least from the local manufacturer (gray or tan).
I put diamond plate in mine and then sprayed it with bed liner. I think it looks good. It has been almost 2 years since I did it and it still looks good.
Nordvik72, do you have more pics of the truck above I was thinking about stripes like that on my truck but haven't seen any on actual trucks as of yet.
How is the diamond plate attached on the sides? I was thinking of welding a "L" angle to the sides then welding the diamond plate to the "L" angle, no bends. Thanks for information and if there are more pictures!!! chuck

On my bed, the diamond plate is tack welded to the sides every few inches. The seam was then caulked with a very small bead of seam sealer. The bottom side was reinforced with 1" sq tube across the bed.
Check my gallery , I used synthetic redwood , also heavier for better traction , wont fade and waterproof , $150 plus hardware at home depot , just a thought but I get a lot of compliments .
