Bilstien 5100s for stock height X?

Right front shock blew (a long time ago) as noted by the choppy wear on the tire and missing bump stop! I have a set on my VW so I am no stranger to Bilstiens. Did some digging and found shockwarehouse and eshock. Both carry the 5100 - but for raised vehicles. Since this seems to be the shock of choice here on FTE, I am confused as to why there is no option for stock-height Excursions? Or do I just order the HD version? I am also plan on installing my v/b codes at the same time - so it is still relatively stock height...right? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

For stock height or slightly raised suspension, use the HD Bilstiens. Get the F250 shocks for the front as they have slightly more travel than the Excursion ones. The rear are the same.

I have the Excursion Bilstein's all the way around. I am totally stock suspension. They are so much better than stock. Really helped things out. When I replace the springs will re-evaluate the fronts.

I'm gonna be looking to sell my billsteins here when I lift my truck in about a month. I put the freakin things on in July or something I think? I really like them though nice and tight but still compliant.

I was looking into the billstein 5100's with my lift, but the big name local shop told me they have issues with rusting out very quickly. Your in Cali so that probably isn't an issue for you. I was recommended the edelbrock IAS shock by a very well known local shop due to the 5100's rusting.

Nice - I had an 87 Scirocco and sold that in 99 when I bought my 93 Corrado VR6 - hence my screen name. Have had it ever since as my daily "fun" car. It's been out of commission for a couple of years once my girls were born. Now I had a bit of time, I managed to get back behind the wheel again! I also have a 2000 Beetle that has been relegated to the "spare" car - because the Corrado will break...even though my wife gives me loads of crap - I cannot part with it.

Not many rust issues here...and I am not near the coast either. I'm sure you can flip them pretty quick on here - but I am ordering this week - Thanks, tho!

1 - Shoot me a pm when you are ready to sell your Bilstiens. I'm thinking about getting a set, but in no rush. Thanks.

I have the 5100s on mine with about 4" of lift so they are in spec. If you aren't going to lift any, stick with the standard like others said - or they will be running a little too compressed. plus, they are pretty stiff, so if you don't need that, another reason to stick with the standard ones.

only had mine for 6 months, so no sign of wear on them yet.
