Thompson/Okanagan Mechanic - Head Gaskets

Hi Folks! I recently bought a 6.0L, and noticed it's drinking coolant. I think it may just be the EGR Cooler, however after much research I am heavily considering ARP Studs and Headgaskets. I would like to attempt the job myself, but I'm afraid of getting in over my head - I don't have access to a hoist or crane to lift the heads - and I don't have anyone to assist me for another couple months. I read torquing the studs nearest the firewall is quite difficult with the cab on.

That said, can anyone recommend a mechanic relatively close to Kamloops? I'd be willing to travel to Vernon or another town if the mechanic is worth it. Alternatively, if someone has a shop with a hoist, and has done this job before I'd be glad to tackle the job with your assistance.

I'm planning to fix this thing once, the right way. I want to do a proper coolant flush, replace oil cooler, delete EGR cooler, replace up-pipe, clean the turbo, replace the oily intake boots, install ford blue spring fuel pressure kit, new stand pipes and dummy plugs, coolant filter, injector o-rings, filters, CAT ELC.

Thanks!

The only place I can think of would be Sportsman, that's the only shop that comes to mind. I don't know anything about them though. I looked into buying it 12 or so years ago. There is a place here in Princeton that is well talked about. I don't know what their 6.0 experience is.

BC Diesel down in Surrey does a lot of 6.0 stuff as well. Don't know how good they are and I guess it would be probably a longer trip than you want to take.

Right, I also see Bernhausen offers a $4599 "Haus" 6.0 Headgasket Special. I've sent them an e-mail to see what's included in that.

I also notice there is a place TVDI.ca (Thomson Valley Diesel Injection) here in Kamloops. They have some notes about the 6.0 on their website, not sure if anyone has any experience with them

I think I have talked to him. I do believe he is a member of the BC Chapter as well.
