Flathead bellhousing bolt pattern

Is there a newer engine that shares the bell housing pattern of the flathead V8 (if that makes any sense)? The truck in question is a '48ish style F3.

Nope, but there are plenty of adapters made to mate up to the light duty trannys. Which trans do you have, the 4-sp with no synchros? If you are looking to re-power, you would probably be better off putting in a whole new matched engine/trans combo.

I was wrong on the F3 part, it is in fact an F4, is that a 1 1/4 ton?? Are the body parts the same size as the f1s and 2s etc...??

The F-2 is considered a light duty 3/4 ton and the F-3 is a heavy duty 3/4 ton. The F-4's are the one ton trucks. The sheet metal is all the same from F-2 through F-6. The F-1's are the same as well for everything except the fenders. They will interchange, but the wheel opening is smaller. F-7 and F-8 Big Job trucks have the same cab, but I think most of the front sheet metal is larger and wider.
