I have one in my 66 F250 had it rebuilt and beefed up a little for towing it works great. Mine is a two (2) wheel drive.

The C4 is a very versatile auto transmission. When built properly it can withstand a lot of abuse. A favorite of many drag racers over the years. To work on a 4x4 is another question. Not sure there were too many built with the correct output shaft to work with a transfer case. Just a guess.

Next question why would you want to convert to a C4? C6's on the other hand are a dime a dozen, should be fairly easy to find IMHO.
