Whos going to order a 6.2L?

Anyhow, yes, my 6.2 has 3.73 gears in it with the electronic locking axle, it is a 156" wheel base with a crew cab as well... so basically you dialed it perfectly! Hmm... what else might be of significance? 18" tires (but I think that's standard), and I aslo upgraded the springs to the 11,000 GVWR (camper package), so I guess that added a little more weight. Oh yes, auto 4x4 as well.
The wife just decided over the weekend that now that we have a beefier truck, we need a bigger trailer (1 week before we hit the road for vacation!). So my 27' is gone and I'm saying hello to the new 32' in a few days. My old trailer was 6400 lb dry, and the new one is 7900 lb. So hopefully still far enough away from that 11,900 lb rated towing capacity such that everything will still handle beautifully!

Ford was saying that better fuel economy than the old 5.4 could be expected (somewhere in the 15% range of improvement) with the wide bore and short stroke length engine design.
I know my former F-150 in the city got around 15 L/100 km (15.7 mi/US gal)
but I suppose the F-350 is a lot heavier. I was expecting to get better fuel economy than my old 5.4L F-150, but that doesn't seem to be the case (perhaps I never should have expected it to be?)

Regarding your quote above...that is correct. When FORD talks about the 5.4L .vs the 6.2L...they are talking in the SuperDuty line. It just would not be fair to bring in the F150 to this discussion. As you mentioned...the weight difference is a huge factor.
Have a fun filled...and safe trip!

Wish I did. My 3V 6.8L 4.10 gets 13MPG empty highway. My in-town driving is closer to 10MPG.
I never bought it for its MPG, but 11.7 in the city would be a great upgrade for me!

New to the forum, new 6.2 on the way!!!
Hey gang,
This is my first post with ford-trucks.com. Thanks to all of you and your great posts, I got the info I needed to pull the trigger on my '11 F-250. I ordered a F-250 Crew Cab 4x4, Lariat Ultimate Package, 6.2 liter dream machine! I have never had the chance to order a truck before, and I was able to get everything that I wanted except 20" wheels, which are not an option on gas-powered trucks. I expect delivery in a few weeks, so I will send pics asap.
Thanks again for all of the great info on the 6.2! Too many diesel freaks out there, hard to find good data on the 6.2

This is an excellent truck. Had the new tow monster and my new 32' trailer out on the weekend. There's nothing quite like the feeling of smoking by some guy pulling his trailer with a half ton uphill!!! I remember being the one who used to do 45 MPH uphill, but with the new truck I was doing 70 MPH!
This was with the trailer at least half full of water and loaded with gear, so probably close between 9000 - 9500 lbs all loaded down. I averaged about 12.5 MPG (U.S. gal) this trip with the trailer, and am starting to see around the 17 MPG range empty on the hwy (3200 mi on truck now), so it looks like the mileage is creeping up a bit after a few more miles on it.
I will attach a pic of the rig just before it's maiden voyage!
Awesome forum guys!!!

Man, you guys are KILLING me!!! Spoke w the dealer, my truck is now supposed to arrive sometime in September. I posted my '05 5.4 F-250 for sale last Sunday night and sold it on Monday! Jimmyj9, you have me excited with those mileage numbers. 17mpg highway is awesome, hopefully mine will perform as well. This baby is loaded to the max, can't wait to get it and post some pics for everyone to check out!

Truck
I also ordered the same truck F350 4x4 Lariat talked to the dealer yesterday said it should be here end of this week beginning of next week. I was concerned I would miss the good mileage I get from my 06 Harley F350 diesel 6 liter, that is about 16-17 empty on highway. What is the oil change interval supposed to be on this truck?
