The EGR valve position sensor on top of the valve is called an EVP. I think EVR is short for EGR valve regulator. Keep us posted.

EVR = EGR Vacuum Regulator.
EVP = EGR Valve Position sensor

Your not going to beleive this but it depends on what parts house you use as to what you call it. I called all of them in my area. Some call it an EGR vacuum solenoid (this is the most common name), EGR vacuum regulator (only one place lists it this way), and EGR regulator switch. By the way none of them have it, not even the ford dealership. Not a common part I guess. NAPA was able to order it from Tampa though. Most of the parts houses said it was a dealer item onlyu but and only two could ordder it. When it gets here I guess I'll be back in business.

Put the EVR on today. Idles much batter but when I give it gas the EGR does not open. Should it? How do I know if it is working properly?

Oh no, spoke too soon. Once the truck got up to operating temp the EGR started moving when I give it gas. It appears to be moving in direct proportion to the RPM's. If I understand the system from what I have learned from you guys, that sounds correct.
I would like to thank you folks for helping me through this. Can't wait to see if this improves my MPG's. Sure hope so. Need the extra bones to help offset the cost of parts. Thanks again, you guys have been great......

Guess I spoke too soon again. Drove to work today and got the old check engine light again. Pulled the codes and got 41 again. Not sure what else could be wrong. I have a new 02 sensor, new EGR, new EGR position sensor, and new EVR. The EGR valve stays closed at idle and opens when the motor RPM goes up as gas is applied. When I let off the gas and RPM goes down the EGR valve closes. Thought that was correct. What else could it be??? I also got a new code I havent seen before, 67. Nutral safety switch circuit open. Never had one of these before and not sure where to start. don't even know where that switch is located. These darn codes are killing me. Thought sure I had them all cleared up. Oh yeah, I did disconect the battery overnight after finishing up the other day so codes should all have been cleared.

What an idiot!!!! I went trolling on the net and found another OBD1 code site and 67 will register if the AC is on during the test. Guess what, I had the AC on so that was probably it. Still looking for the cause for the 41 though.

I'm running out of ideas, but check fuel pressure and make sure there is 12V on one of the white wires going to the O2 sensor and ground on the other white wire. The two white wires power the heater element in the O2 sensor.

Guess any time your working on your vehicle you need to pay really close attention to what you are doing. I found what I'm sure is the problem today. The pipe going from the intake to the EGR is broke. Had to put a lot of pressure on it when taking the EGR off. Looks like I probably put a little too much on it. Started hearing an exhaust leak and it kept getting worse. This was while diving about 50 miles to and from work. Got under the hood to trace down the exhaust leak and found it to be the tube. I feel like a goof but glad I found it. Now just have to find one to replace it. Thanks checking in. When I get it fixed I'll let everyone know. Thanks for hanging in there with me. Thought I had it before and was also running out of causes.

Finally got the tube fixed today. Seams fine but I did not have an oppertunity to drive it very far. I'll drive it to work tomorrow and that will tell the story. I'll keep you all informed. I sure hope I've gotten it.

Check engine light came back on on my way to work about the area it always comes on during the trip. Everything in the EGR system apears good. Valve opening and closing like it should, and I thing all the leaks are now sealed, new o2 sensor. Guess I'll keep checking. What else would cause a 41 code.
