C6 Transmission Temp Gauge

I have an 84 f150 i do quite a bit of mudding pulling and just playing in. Its got a 351w and a c6 transmission i recently blew my last transmission and has to drop over 1k on a remanufactured one. I dont wanna do this again so i wanted to know if i could install a tranny temp guage on a c6 and if so how is it done and what are the steps?

1k for a "rebuilt C6" ? What a complete rip off. Fix what you got, even with a reman converter you won't have near that in it. Make sure you flush your lines and cooler out real good before putting it back in. While it's apart you can put a gage kit in it.

Its not rebuilt its remanufactured and small block c6 4x4 trannys arent real cheap even for rebuilt ones and a rebuild is gonna run you around 700 so why not buy a like new remanufactured one.

Ya i figured out that i gotta get a pan with a drain plug and put my thermostat in there and run the line. I found a pillar for my truck but i think it would look a little weird so i might go with a dash mount

I cut the line to my transmission cooler and plumbed in a T. It's not the true temp of the casing, but I think it's good enough for what I do (heavy towing)

You could put it in the line going to the cooler, coming from the cooler or in the pan.

I think the pan would give the best average temp.

But putting them in the cooler lines would let you know the heat out and into the trans.

Verified 19 mpg city taking off slow as hell the shutting down at red lights, and with the radiator grill blocked flush, no bed cover, "drag shoot" mirrors on I get 24 mpg at 50 to 55 mph on the freeway empty!
However, with a bed cover, no mirrors and Hydroxy

The I would find a clear spot in the bottom of the pan under or near the place where the filter picks up the fluid so you don't end up with stagnant fluid fooling the sensor.
