It's funny, mine exits just under the body about 2 inches and right in front of the rear tire. Here are a couple pics of what it looks like. Has a 2 into 1 then a second cat before the muffler. The first cat has a the O2 sensor right were the two pipes tie together.100% smog legal and seams to flow well too.
Looks funny with trans. oil pan off, but we ran the driver's side right under the 7 quart Milodon (looks funny, painted black sides and gold bottom) oil pan and wrapped it with glass insulation. It has about and inch and a half clearance from the pan, and is still higher than the front cross-member by a couple inches for great ground clearance.
That looks like a nice setup. It should work well.

the best system i have found so far is the true dual, true 3" all the way, 3" aero chamber center in/center out with 3" glasspacks in the headpipes. ( 18 inches long ) sounds muted and deep, till you put your foot in it........
I think that true 3 inch dual is too large unless its on a big block. I don't think it would scavenge very well. Also, I don't really understand running 2 pairs of mufflers.

If you have a hi performance truck that turns over 5500 RPM duals are the way to go . With a small block usally 2 1/2 then to 3 " at the muffler is good ....Lew
yep, they are on a big motor....500 cadillac in our 1953 international pickup. 2 pairs of mufflers is because i wanted it to be deceptively quiet.....without being restricted. so in the end i accomplished all my goals-quiet but good sounding, good flowing, and deceptive- you'de never guess that motor is under the hood, even tho it still sounds hella rowdy ( the 297/.631/110 cam might have something to do with it.....) it doesnt sound 'fast', so more bite rather than bark !
I think if I put another system on my truck it'll be a medium length glasspack and a single tailpipe. I'm really falling in love with Magnaflow. I had a Manaflow installed on my mom's Escape some time ago. After some thousands of miles it's braking in nicely. When the Escape is under load, crawling up a hill, it sounds like a V8. It's quiet but has a deep rumble to it that would remind you of a factory exhaust system on a muscle car or something. The Escape doesn't sound much different when you're just cruising around or at idle but once it warms up and you put your foot into it, it sounds like something to respect - even if it is just a 3.0L.
If I'm working again and everything is okay, I'll use a short Magnaflow - otherwise, just a short or medium glasspack.

Bill, you know you want a Cherry Bomb Extreme on that 300 !

If you decide to change it just get a glasspack with a Y and keep the dual tail pipes.

haha, Jason. I've given up on trying to make the 300 sound like an Eight. I figure a quiet powerful tone is the only way to go on my rig.
Ty, the reason I said one exhaust pipe is in theory it wouldn't sound quiet so puny. I don't know if there's any truth to this or not. I know on the I6 Cummins' with dual stacks they don't sound any better or worse than with one stack.
The only thing I dont like about Magnaflow is that they are so quiet on a Six. I've heard a lot of YouTube clips of V6's with Mag's (mainly the 3.0L) and they sound horrible - ricey and quiet. Mag's seem to sound best on V8's.
