I have and so far no issues. Howeve I have tested it about every 20,000 mi with test strips. I do change it (ELC) every 100,000 mi. tho. In fact I am planning to change it this weekend again and will be using Detroit Disel , POWERCOOL Plus. ELC which eliminates the need for supplamental additives. . I "inherited" the coolant and after speaking with a few mechanics they said go for it in the Ford.
In the past I used Shell Rotella ELC (2X). Truck still is running 326,700 mi.
BTW my engine was built 2/19/98
PS. there is a few of opinions which advise AGAINST using an ELC. in the 7.3. However i form my own opinions.

In light of this LINK I'm wondering if I should run ELC in my early bird. If any early 99 owners are running ELC please speak up, especially if you've had any issues with it.
Thanks

Thanks for starting this thread. Reps to you. I was about to do it myself.
Like I posted in the other thread I have 8k on ELC and no problems I have noticed, but it is rather difficult to keep an eye on the injector cups. I will, however, be keeping an eye and nose on the de-gas bottle for any signs of diesel fuel.
The credit for the link I posted must go to Stewart and Gooch.

I have choosen to stick with a conventional coolant meeting ASTM D4985 with SCA . just my 2 cents.

It sure does read like the ELC should work well in almost anything....
I was even thinking of flushing the DexCool out of my little Chevy (2.2 Ecotec, alum block) and using it in that. I used the link on the Shell Rotella site to ask them and they said it was fine as long as it was flushed.

I use Detroit diesel Power trac test strips . They test 3 ways. I've always tested from Ideal to OK. (However I just went out and tested . According to strip I need to change. I do have over 100,000 mi on coolant )

Hey Otto!! How's the LBZ treating you?? Since you made special mention of it that day we met up back in PC, you should feel this thing now! Just put big hybrid injectors in it last month -- it's a beast now!!
To the original subject, are the strips you're using for ELC?? I'm wondering why you're "only" getting 100k out of ELC that's supposed to last 300k at least.

I prefer driving the Ford. I need injectors . Still have your old????
On the COOLANT. I just change it out at 100,000 instead of adding more additive. A while back a UOA showed a possible coolant leak. After I changed it (coolant) next UOA showed none
