08 3.0L 4WD front brake replacement Questions

I am getting ready to replace the front brakes on my Escape because they are pulsating badly with freeway speed stops. Is there anything special to know about replacing these brakes? I have done a lot of brake replacements so I have a good selection of special brake tools?

Unless they have changed something in the newer Escape/brakes, they are quite simple.
  • Remove the tire & rim
  • Remove the brake caliper clip
  • Remove the caliper bolt caps & the bolts
  • R & R the pads
  • Install in reverse order
There is nothing for "special" tools required. I cannot remember the size, but all you need is an allen key or allen-type socket.

If your brakes are pulsating you should replace the rotors too. Sounds like they may be warped.

And you can pretty much guarantee that the rotors cannot be turned. Manufacturers are using minimum thickness rotors for cost savings.
