Idle Speed 85 5.0 fi

Does anyone know the proper idle speed for a 85 5.0 FI?

Mine has always idled...

at 600 rpm. I think in gear its at about 550. There is no way to adjust the idle speed as far as I know. Changing the throttle stop screw seems to have no effect on idle speed.

There is something under the throttle body you adjust the RPM with. I believe someone said to adjust idle you are supposed to unplug either the TPS or IAC (can't remember) to where the engine is barely running. Then plug it back in and you're done. Me, I go ahead and bump it up just a hair after that.

It is the IAC you disconnect. Like Freaksh0w said you get it to where it just barely will idle on its own and then plug the IAC back in. I sometimes bump mine up just a hair also, but when Im done I always unplug the battery cable for 15 or 20 minutes to reset the computer and then take it on a spin for a few miles to get everything to get there settings back. Im not sure if unplugging the battery and reseting everything is needed but I always do just because Im not sure if the IAC will be trying to work off of the previous settings or if it just goes by how it is set.
