So K9 I didn't mean to NUKE your thread "LOL" but what did you come up with?
I should be getting my truck back together soon and I will post my new intake, carb, and induction mods with some pic's since your running a 360 like me. I was working on my new cold air design in my lab today and that is getting better My first 2 attempts worked but not as good as I wanted plus they were butt ugly in my oppinion. This new one will floww better and act almost like ram air going down the highway. Here is the last ones.
well it has been a week but i havent wanted to start it yet because im affraid that it hasnt taken its whole effect yet. but i think i will go out there tomorrow and see whats going on with the fuel leak from either the bowls or the diaphram in the pump. BTW ...kennewick nice airram!
well turns out that the Fuel Pump is pumping right away so thats good. it also appears that when i pumped my throttle linkage i only got about 2.5 pumps before no more gas was spraying into the body then it was dry. i'm guessing that there should be more gas in the bowl and that it is leaking? i say this because after i got the 2 pumps i started the motor , turned it off, then pumped it and looked into the body and i got 7,8,9 pumps of gas to spray right after the engine had been started. my edelbrock carb is fairly new and i cant see why it would leak! any suggestions?
Have you checked your oil level to see if you are draining into your oil pan. It's not a good thing!! perhaps leaking past your needle and seat. I would think you could drain from the fuel line untill the pressure is gone. That could flood some through the carb filling the bowl. Then you get a couple of squirts out of the bowl but the fuel line is mostly empty. When you start the pump pumps it right up after a couple of turns of the crank and everything seems normal. But watch you oil level and see if it is high.
Just thinking.
Well if you took a gallon of fuel thats in a gas can and started to pour it through the carb until it was empty where do you think it would end up?
So I was wondering if you could be leaking fuel down through the carb. It has to be going somewhere. If it ends up in your oil you get a condition called gasoil. It's not a good lubricant. It has killed many a motorcycle and I would guess a few old trucks.
I thought it was worth a check.
IMHO it's the nature of the beast starting a 390 on a cold winter morning, finally went with Electronic Ign., Duraspark ll, and now no longer an issue.
