Back up sensors.

Hi Guys,

Park Assist Problem.

Just bought a 2005 Expedition Eddie Bauer. The rear bumper was replaced and only has 2 sensors on it. My dealer told me there should be 4. On the harness I can only find 3 plugs for sensors, not 4. There is one on each end and one in the middle. Do the middle sensors split the center plug with an adapter?

Thanks!

Not sure why your 05 would only have 2 sensors. The 03 had two sensors (ultrasonic) that you could see and one (radar) located in the center behind the bumper cover. Starting in 04 they switched to 4 of the ultrasonic sensors. I assume they switched to save money as the radar unit was pretty pricey, but having had both, I can say the radar set up works much better.

Actually the switch was mid year in '03, you will see them both ways. Clearly doesn't help with his '05 question though. The bumper is probably the same from '03-'05 so maybe someone got a deal on one that would fit but not necessarily work.
